Get your givin' on

{ because giving is sexy ♥ }

Kindness-creators and give-backers are pretty frickin’ sexy. Giving speaks of character. Compassion. Kindness. Heart. And what’s not to love about that? When you help others, you can’t help but smile more, you feel an extra bounce in your step, you’re just generally more awesome.

And you don’t have to fly across the world or adopt a jungle to make a difference! You don’t need to write a check or even leave your house if you don’t want to - giving can take as little or as much time as you want! There are endless ways to give back and many of them cost nothing. And once you decide to make giving a part of your lifestyle I promise it will become effortless to give. It will become a part of who you are and how you live your life.

How do I know? At the risk of tooting my own horn, I founded the nonprofit organization Re:mix, advocating for foster youth, raised tens of thousands of dollars and contributed hundreds of hours to causes in my neighborhood and across the globe. From cancer and burn survivors, mentorship programs and aid for Africa - I’ve given and worked with tons of different causes. I even won The Profits with Principals giving-back award from The Body Shop At Home. Fancy! I donate a portion of my coaching fees to make a difference in the lives of others. When it comes to giving, I’m your girl. This.is.my.thing.

Need more convincing?
The positive effect of kindness on the immune system and on the increased production of serotonin in the brain has been proven in research studies. Research has shown that a simple act of kindness ... improves the functioning of the immune system and stimulates the production of serotonin in both the recipient of the kindness and the person extending the kindness. Even more amazing is that persons observing the act of kindness have similar beneficial results. Imagine! Kindness extended, received, or observed beneficially impacts the physical health and feelings of everyone involved!"
- Wayne Dyer in The Power of Intention: Learning to Co-Create Your World Your Way

Amazing, right? Giving makes the recipient of the kindness and the person extending the kindness feel better. So if you witness an act of kindness, you benefits as well! Now that’s something to cheer about!
